Responsibilities
Following is a summary of the basic responsibilities of hazardous waste receivers in terms of the hazardous waste tracking system:
- Receivers located in Manitoba must apply to Manitoba Conservation for a licence to receive hazardous waste in accordance with The Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act.
- Submit an application for licence - The Dangerous Goods Handling and Transportation Act Application Form [en français]
- Comply with the terms and conditions associated with the licence.
- Accept hazardous waste only from registered generators and licensed carriers (except for exempted recyclable materials).
- Complete Part C of the manifest, send copy to Manitoba Conservation (and other appropriate authorities if interprovincial or international shipment) and retain a copy for two years. For recyclable material that is exempt from manifest, retain copy of shipping document for two years.
