The Manitoba
Model Forest is situated about 150 miles northeast
of Winnipeg near Pine Falls. It was created to educate people
about the boreal forest and provide opportunities for developing
new and better ways to utilize the forest resource, through
sustainable development.
There are 10 model forest sites across Canada, representing
all of Canada's major forest regions.
The Canadian Forest Service Northern Forestry Centre web site has information about forest protection, integrated resource management and sustainable forestry practices, and a series of climate change fact sheets.
