Quota Holder Meetings – November 2009

Forest Management staff from the Forestry Branch and Regional Forestry staff will be meeting with all Quota Holders throughout the province during the third week of November.

The purpose of the meetings is to:

  • Review proposed 2010-2015 Quota Policy that includes a significant change in quota use requirements during the next five year period.
  • Review New Timber Sale Agreements for the next Quota Period that have been developed and will be provided to you in Draft form.
  • Provide a general timber administration information session to ensure all cutting right holders are fully aware of current management procedures.
  • Help Quota Holders prepare for the end of the current 2005-10 Quota Period.

Please contact your Regional Forester or the Forestry Branch for further details.

New Manitoba Scalers Licence and Refresher Courses 2010

Due to the small number of potential scaling course participants Manitoba Conservation Forestry Branch has decided that the Manitoba Scalers Licence course and the Refresher course will not be held in 2010.

Companies may request an Interim Scalers Licence for persons requiring a Scalers Licence provided there are Licenced Scalers to supervise their work. Any persons awarded an Interim Scalers Licence will be required to attend the Scalers Licence course in 2011.

Licensed Scalers that obtained a Manitoba Scalers Licence in 2005 and who would have been required to attend a Refresher course in 2010 will now be required to attend the 2011 Refresher course. The Scalers Licence obtained in 2005 will remain valid until 2011.

Manitoba Conservation has recently created a web page for Manitoba’s Scalers Licence Program. Manitoba Conservation will update this site as information becomes available.
