Forest Practices and Planning

Communicating forest practice guidelines in a consistent manner is a fundamental requirement of the Forest Practice Initiative. This will be accomplished in part through the publication of guidebooks, but may be supplemented with presentations, field discussions, or training courses. field discussion group

Groups to whom forest practices information will be communicated include:

  • forest management licensees
  • quota holders
  • non-governmental organizations
  • government agencies, and others

Manitoba Conservation staff will be available to conduct joint inspections of forest operations with Regional Integrated Resource Management Teams, forest industry representatives, and Natural Resource Officers in order to evaluate the implementation of forest practices, resolve potential conflicts and to discuss issues.

New methods of monitoring forestry operations that link the performance of forest activities to Forest Management Plans, and report on selected criteria and indicators will also be investigated.
