Geocomp Products 

Geocomp is a turnkey system, which accepts the raw NOAA/AVHRR data and generates precision geocoded and cloud-free composite images of Canada or selectable regions of interest. Geocomp handles both 1-km and 4-km AVHRR data. The system will process both single scenes and full passes of current and archived data in a variety of formats. Geocomp radiometrically calibrates imagery to correct for time-varying sensor effects. It maintains full 10-bit radiometric resolution through each processing step. Geocomp achieves sub-pixel geometric accuracy by using adaptive spacecraft modelling techniques and a LANDSAT-MSS image chip library for accurate automated control-point marking. A wide variety of map projections are supported.

Geocomp Composite products include up to ten bands of data (operator selectable): five bands of composited AVHRR data plus the maximum NDVI, the date of the maximum NDVI, sensor zenith angle, sun-sensor relation azimuth angle, sun zenith angle. Canada-wide composites covering each summer season (April 11 - October 31) have been processed since 1993.
