The
park serves as an important regional recreational
resource for residents and visitors to
south-western Manitoba, and provides camping,
fishing, picnicking, beach day use and boat access
to
Directly north of the park is a 50 hectare parcel of Crown land often referred to as the “Rivers Prairie”. This nearly unaltered patch of mixed grass prairie is located on the bank of an ancient glacial spillway. Intact mixed grass prairie is scarce in this natural region due to agricultural activities. This area is also of cultural significance, as it includes an ancient burial site, and a petroform has been identified nearby. Classified
with a Backcountry Land Use Category, meaning it
is protected from logging, mining and
hydroelectric development, this small but valuable
