Comfort Camping in a cabin is another great option in Manitoba. Vacation cabins at Camp Morton and Hecla provincial parks are a natural for families and fun.

Located just an hour away from Winnipeg, visitors love staying in these rustic log cabins. There are six single, two-bedroom units, which can accommodate up to six people. The eight-duplex, one-bedroom units can handle a maximum of four people.
These cabins are in Camp Morton Provincial Park on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, approximately 7 kilometres (4.5 miles) north of Gimli. The park can be reached by either PTH 8 or PTH 9.
Cabin Features
Cabins contain comfortable, rustic furniture, electricity, a refrigerator, stove and sink. Cabin housekeeping supplies include a broom, dust-pan, mop, pail and garbage bags.
Each cabin has its own parking space, picnic table and barbeque pit. All cabins have cold running water and flush toilets. One cabin, and the nearby non-modern washroom, is wheelchair accessible. The central washroom also accommodates wheelchairs.
A selected number of cabins will require a seven night minimum reservation which includes a Sunday to Sunday stay. This 7 night offer is available the first two weeks starting February 6 after which all cabins and dates are available to everyone.
What to Bring
Guests at either Camp Morton or Hecla family vacation cabins are responsible for their own sleeping bags, pillows, food, eating and cooking utensils.
Fees and Other Rules
Cabin visitors can stay up to 14 nights with a two night minimum at the time of reservation. Family Vacation Cabins will now require full payment at the time of booking. Pets and smoking are not allowed in the cabins. Refunds are not given for early departure.
Changes to reservations regarding dates and location may be allowed, depending on availability, for a non-refundable change fee of $3.00; however, changes made within 3 days or less of your arrival date that involve a later arrival or moving to another campground will be subject to an additional non-refundable nightly fee plus the change fee.
Cabins are available on a walk-up basis between reservations. VISA and MasterCard are accepted.
A popular destination, Hecla Island is a haven for wildlife. These simple, one room cabins are located in the north end of the park. They are laid out in a pedestrian-oriented complex with the parking lot near the 19 cabins. The result is a peaceful secluded vacation setting.
Hecla Island cabins are located in Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park on Lake Winnipeg and can be reached by PTH # 8 approximately two hours north or Winnipeg.
Cabin Features
The original Hecla family vacation cabins can accommodate two, four or six people. The six-person cabins have a combination of two futons and twin bunk beds. Four-person cabins include a futon and twin bunk beds. Two-person cabins have a futon. Two cabins and the central washroom/shower building are wheelchair accessible.
Each cabin is furnished with comfortable furniture, electricity, a small refrigerator, stove top (no oven) and sink. Cabin housekeeping supplies include a broom, dust-pan, mop, pail and sponge, water container and garbage bags.
Four premium style cabins have been developed along the shoreline. Two of the cabins feature a loft style cabin with a double bed, futon and a twin bunkbed. Two cabins are wheelchair accessible and feature a twin/double bunkbed and a futon. All four cabins offer a spacious covered porch with patio furniture.
