Hecla School Interpretive Centre


Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park

In the heart of the restored Hecla Village, the two-room schoolhouse, serves as the interpretive centre for Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park. It's on the Hecla Village Self-guiding Trail that is a pleasant, 1-km walk through the lakeshore settlement. Outdoor interpretive signs, a trail brochure and interpreter-led tours are available. Entry into restored buildings is only permitted on guided tours. Individual highlights include Hecla Fish Station, Hecla Island Heritage Home Museum, Tools and Machines Exhibit and fishing boats.

Located in Hecla Village, off PTH 8. Admission free.

Open daily, mid-May to September long weekend.
