The view from up here is amazing. The glacial processes that took place deposited irregular shapes known as the ducks or simply the Manitoba escarpment. The viewing tower and the trail have fourteen on-site interpretive signs that describe the fur trade, the early inhabitants, the first ranger's cabin and the resource rich land known as the ducks. Classified as a Natural Park, the area represents the Western Uplands region. Glacial times have passed by, but the remains are clearly visible today. The meltwater filled the depressions forming many pothole lakes. From higher latitudes, there is a southward extension of the boreal forest-a mixture of white spruce, jack pine, balsam fur and deciduous trees like aspen and birch. Hiking trail return distance 3 km. Allow 2 h. Viewing tower and ranger's cabin 0.6 km. Allow 30 min.
