In the north, where the Manitoba Lowlands and Precambrian Shield meet, there is a river that runs wild. It's name is called Grass River. Its presence is marked on the maps of great explorers like Samuel Hearne as it played a critical role to the history of the fur trade. Today it's the namesake of a superb park. This is a place where woodland caribou thrive, and where wolves, moose, bear and wolverine roam the lush forests. Looking above, you'll see that the sky belongs to the bald eagle and the great gray owl. When exploring along the river and numerous lakes, you'll feel like the first to set eyes on the splendor of untouched land and waters. For those who prefer overland access, four of the most popular lakes can be reached by road. The bounty of Grass River's waters include the great northern pike, walleye, lake trout, whitefish and perch, and are sought after by anglers worldwide.
Choose from basic sites at three lakeside campgrounds, designated back country campsites or lodges in Grass River Provincial Park. Wekusko Falls Provincial Park offers basic and electrically serviced campsites, walk-in sites and lodge accommodations.
Leaving The Pas travel north 74 km / 46 mi. on PTH 10, turn right and follow PTH 39 into Grass River Park. To reach Wekusko Falls continue east on PTH 39 to PR 392, turn left and drive 13 km / 8.1 mi.
