Enjoy an affordable family vacation on the shores of Lake Winnipeg!

Visit Camp Morton Provincial Recreation Park on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, approximately 7 km (4.5 miles) north of Gimli via PTH 8 or PTH 9. For a different experience, you could try the cabins at Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park, located approximately 184 km (115 miles) north of Winnipeg on PTH 8.

Camp Morton

Camp Morton cabinMuch of the area surrounding the cabins is preserved in its natural state. Vacationers can enjoy the natural lakeshore, the picnic and day-use areas. Several golf courses are nearby.

There are 10 rustic log cabins that offer electricity, a refrigerator, a compact stove with oven, sink, and furniture. Six single detached cabins and eight duplex log cabins have their own parking space, non-modern toilet, picnic table and firepit. The single detached cabins are two-bedroom units, each with a double bed, two single beds and a daybed to accommodate a maximum of six persons each. The duplex cabins are one-bedroom units, each with a double bed and a daybed for a maximum of four persons. Basic housekeeping supplies such as broom, dustpan, mop, pail and garbage bags are provided in each cabin. All cabins provide cold running water and flush toliets. Central shower facilities are located by the beach. Cabin 6, as well as the nearby non-modern and the central modern washroom are designed to accommodate wheelchairs.

In consideration of our guests, cabins are non-smoking and pets are not allowed inside the cabins.

Hecla

Hecla Island cabinHecla Island is a unique recreational area with facilities centred at the north end of the Island. The park is a haven for both wildlife and people.

The 19 cabins can accommodate 2, 4 or 6 persons and are within easy reach of the lakeshore, beaches, hiking trails, golf course, boat-launch, dock and campground amphitheatre. Each cabin offers a compact stove (no oven), small refrigerator, sink, furniture, picnic table, firepit and small-screened patio. The six person cabin provides a combination of futon, double bunk or single cots. The four-person cabin includes a futon and twin bunk bed. The two person unit provides a futon. Basic housekeeping supplies such as broom, dust-pan, mop, pail, water container and garbage bags are provided in each cabin and a central modern washroom and shower facility is within easy walking distance of each cabin. Vehicles must be parked in a central parking lot as cabins allow pedestrian access only. Cabins 15 and 16, as well as, the central washroom/shower facility are wheelchair accessible.

In consideration of other guests, cabins are non-smoking and pets are not alloed inside the cabins.

Deposit

A two night deposit fee is required at the time of reservation plus the reservation fee. The balance of fees are due upon arrival at the park. Cancellation refunds are dependant on the cabin being rebooked.

Duration of Stay

Minimum: 2 consecutive nights
Maximum: 2 consecutive weeks

Check In / Check Out

The check in time for family vacation cabins is 4:00 p.m., while the check out time is 12:00 noon.

Opening and Closing Dates

Camp Morton: Mid-May through to September
Hecla: Mid-May through to September

Reservation Policy

All reservations for Manitoba provincial park campgrounds, group use and cabin facilities require payment at the time of booking. By paying for the reservation, the customer agrees to abide by all applicable rules and regulations that are a condition of a camping/cabin permit. The customer also agrees to be bound by the cancellation policies in effect. A non-refundable $7.60 reservation fee applies to all reservations.
