ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH CORPS (EYC)

Want to do something good for the environment in your community? Like plant trees, clean up a riverbank, or help increase habitat for wildlife? The Environmental Youth Corps (EYC) program can help!

The EYC program allows Manitoba youth the opportunity to become involved in a variety of environmental activities. Financial assistance is available to Project Sponsors planning to carry out activities such as community clean-ups or creating green space.

By participating in an EYC project youth will be provided with hands-on learning experiences leading to increased knowledge and awareness of environmental matters. Youth will also increase their appreciation and responsibility towards their environmental surroundings, as well as learn the importance of voluntary community involvement.

Program Objectives

To offer Manitoba’s young people an opportunity to prepare for the environmental challenges of tomorrow by helping them gain valuable education and experience today.

To encourage youth throughout the province to voluntarily participate in innovative projects that will help to improve and protect Manitoba’s environment.

To stress the importance of local action for sustaining the environment.

To provide project sponsors with financial support for creating and carrying out environment related projects in their communities.
