Land Use Planning & Policy
Integrated planning and policy development ensures the sustainability of the environment and its natural resources, and promotes compatible relationships between the environment and the use of land.
The Branch:
- administers and maintains the Interdepartmental Operational Crown Lands database for southern Manitoba
- prepares and distributes annual Crown land plan updates and Interdepartmental Operational Land Use Code assignments, and publishes the Interdepartmental Operational Crown Land Plans report
- develops and coordinates policy development and other land use activities that affect Crown land
- circulates and coordinates departmental response to Crown land applications respecting the purchase, lease, permit, licence of occupation, easements, reservations, assignments, development time frames and wild rice
- provides secretariat support to the Crown Lands Assistant Deputy Ministers Committee
- assists municipalities and planning districts with the preparation of development plans and zoning by-laws as they relate to Crown lands, natural resources, environment and protected areas
- responds to requests for studies, maps, and statistics required to properly allocate resources.
