As the name suggests Manitoba's perch are mostly yellow, but they have dark vertical bars on the sides and the fins are often bright orange. Appearance varies from lake to lake and with season; some bright specimens may have a purple wash over the cheeks, others may have a hint of turquoise in bones of the head and the base of the fins.
