National Wildlife Week

National Wildlife Week (NWW) was originally established to celebrate the accomplishments of naturalist Jack Miner and always includes April 10th, Jack Miner's birthday. Today, NWW focuses of wildlife and wildlife habitat conservation, with a different theme each year. These themes and the information in NWW education kits look at a specific habitat type and provide recommendations on how to protect this habitat.

The Canadian Wildlife Federation (CWF)  coordinates National Wildlife Week across Canada and the Manitoba Wildlife and Ecosystem Protection Branch coordinates NWW for the Province of Manitoba in consultation with CWF. The Wildlife and Ecosystem Protection Branch purchases and distributes National Wildlife Week kits to Manitoba schools.
