Sustainable Development

Sustainable Development Strategy for Wildlife in Manitoba.

The Manitoba Round Table, in conjunction with Manitoba Conservation, is in the process of developing a Sustainable Development Strategy for Wildlife. As part of the provincial Sustainable Development Strategy, the Wildlife Strategy will develop objectives, policies and applications for the sustainable management of Manitoba's wild animals and plants, and their habitats. The standard provincial sustainable development process was followed with step one being the development of suggested objectives and policies. These policies were given extensive public review in 1999 and the results of this review were published as "Wildlife Strategy - What You Told Us".

strategy bookMembers of the public who took part in the various aspects of consultation (workshops, presentations, submissions) were each sent a copy of the document. Copies are available for viewing through Manitoba Conservation offices in Winnipeg, Brandon, Gimli, Swan River, Dauphin, The Pas, Thompson, and Lac du Bonnet and the Manitoba Environment Public Registry Network. A limited number of books are available for additional distribution.
