Big Game Hunting

White-tailed Deer Hunting

Licences

You require a white-tailed deer hunting licence to hunt this species in Manitoba. Licences can be purchased at Manitoba Conservation offices throughout the province, or at participating vendors.

Licence Type and Bag Limits

A resident may purchase only one of each type of the following regular licences: archery, muzzleloader, shotgun/muzzleloader, general rifle, and where offered, second and third deer. A non-resident may purchase only one of each type of the following regular licences: archery, muzzleloader and general rifle. Non-resident alien deer licences are available only through outfitters. It is illegal to hunt mule deer.

Non-resident Alien

  • Non-resident alien deer hunters must book their hunt through a registered lodge or outfitter, authorized to outfit non-resident alien deer hunters.
  • Non-resident alien deer hunters must be accompanied by a licensed Manitoba guide. No more than three hunters may use the services of a guide at the same time.
  • Non-resident alien deer hunters must only use the services of the outfitter specified on their hunting licence.

Definitions

  • "Antlerless" means a deer that is not "antlered."
  • "Antlered" means a deer with antlers more than 10 cm. (4 in.) in length.
