Legislation Under Which Areas are Designated Under Manitoba's
Protected Areas
Logging, mining or the development of
oil, petroleum, natural gas or hydro-electric power are prohibited
in Protected Areas.

The Ecological Reserves ActEcological Reserves Designation Regulation, MR 166/87 (as amended).
The Forest Act (C.C.S.M. c. F150), 2 areas, one designated by the Spruce Woods Provincial Forest Activities Management Regulation, MR 183/98 and one designated by the Porcupine Provincial Forest Activities Management Regulation, MR 75/2004. The Wildlife Act (C.C.S.M. c. W130), 43 areas designated by the Use of Wildlife Lands Regulation, MR 77/99 (as amended)Riding Mountain and Wapusk National Parks are federally designated lands, which also contribute to Manitoba's PAI.
