Trade Corridor MapManitoba’s position at the heart of North America makes it a key part of the Mid-continent Trade Corridor, connecting Canada to a central North American market of 100 million people.

Manitoba has:

  • Three rail links to the United States, with connections allowing shipment throughout North America

  • Rail yards able to handle over 5,500 cars per day, and intermodal terminals with capacity to process more than 200,000 containers per year

  • An estimated 1,000 for-hire motor carriers that operate interprovincially or internationally, with 3 of Canada’s 20 largest employers in for-hire trucking headquartered here. On average,  over 1,100 trucks cross the Manitoba-U.S. border every day

  • A conveniently located 24-hour international airport, that serves as an important overnight cargo hub for FedEx, Purolator, UPS, Air Canada Cargo and Cargojet Airlines. Expansion plans are underway for a new terminal building, to be completed in 2010

  • A seaport on Hudson Bay, able to accommodate Panamax class vessels

  • Winnipeg is home to CentrePort Canada – Manitoba’s inland port and Canada’s first Foreign Trade Zone. CentrePort is comprised of 20,000 acres of land at Winnipeg’s James Armstrong Richardson International Airport offering greenfield investment opportunities in manufacturing, warehousing and distribution.
