The University College of the North provides an integrated college and university approach to offer northern Manitoba greater access to the breadth of post-secondary education. It is an institution devoted to community and northern development which reflects the Aboriginal reality and cultural diversity of northern Manitoba.

The University College of the North (UCN) has two main campuses in The Pas and Thompson, complete with a full range of services. In addition, UCN has twelve regional centers which are located in Churchill, Cross Lake, Easterville, Flin Flon, Grand Rapids, Nelson House, Norway House, Oxford House, Pukatawagan, St. Theresa Point, Swan River, and Split Lake.  UCN maintains over 200 staff members, and annual registration is more than 2,600 students.

The University College of the North offers degree, diploma and certificate level programs and courses covering a wide area of interests. Many of its programs are unique to Manitoba. UCN also offers Distance Education, which brings its programs and courses to most northern communities.
