Manitoba's First Youth Making a Difference Approved Projects - 2011/2012 Adobe New

The Youth Making a Difference Program is a grant program that provides students and youth, ages 16-24, with a grant of up to $1,000 per proposal to develop and implement social justice and community development projects in their schools and communities.  Examples of eligible projects include: peer tutoring clubs, students developed community events and student workshops, student awareness projects, projects that encourage student voice and hands-on projects that have positive benefits for students and the community.

Youth will work together with educators/counsellors or adult supervisors from youth serving organizations to develop the grant proposal that engage students and youth in projects that make a positive difference in their schools and communities.  Educators, counsellors and supervisors will receive the funds and help ensure that the proposed project is implemented and a final report is completed.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be 16-24 years, in high school or a member of a youth serving organization
  • Applicants must have the support of a teacher/supervisor willing to volunteer his/her time to mentor and manage funds
  • Project must be implemented between January 2012 – May, 2012

Project Reporting

  • A final report for the project is required by June 17, 2012.

How to Apply

  • To apply for a Youth Making a Difference grant, simply complete the application form including the following project details:
  • Description of project
  • Who will be involved with the development/delivery of the project?
  • Why do you feel this project is important?
  • How will this project benefit your school/community?
  • Who will your project benefit?
  • How will you ensure this is a student/youth led, teacher/supervisor facilitated project?
  • What tools/strategies will you implement to track the progress of your project? (e.g. surveys, portfolio, scrapbook, photos etc.)
