Dear Friends

The City of Winnipeg Access Advisory Committee would like to formally invite you to attend our 2009 Accessibility Awards Presentations celebrating the spirit of universal design through the creation and design of welcoming and inclusive environments. This special event will acknowledge those local businesses, agencies, and individuals who have made exceptional efforts in designing their projects as accessible to as many people as possible. The event is scheduled for:

Thursday October 29, 2009
City Hall  510 Main Street Council Building
Mayor’s Foyer – 2nd Floor
11:30 am – 1:30 pm

The event will feature the presentation of the 2009 Accessibility Awards to four exceptional facilities by his worship Mayor Sam Katz, as well as the presentation of 3 Honourable Mention Certificates.  A small reception for everyone will follow the awards.

Our very special guest speaker for this event will be Mike Calvo who is the founder and CEO of Serotek Corporation with his head office in Minneapolis Minnesota. http://serotek.com. Serotek supplies accessible internet products intended for the visually impaired, elderly, and those with limited mobility, to operate computers and access the Internet.

For catering purposes, if you are planning on attending, we would ask that you RSVP to Chris Sobkowicz coordinator of the Access Advisory Committee at csobkowicz@winnipeg.ca. Please let us know if you require any disability supports to participate. A sign language interpreter, and one female attendant have already been arranged for the event.
