About the Office
Mandate

The Office of the Manitoba Fairness Commissioner implements the Fair Registration Practices in Regulated Professions Act to ensure registration practices are transparent, objective, impartial and fair.

The Fairness Commissioner:
  • Provides regulators with information and advice concerning requirements of the Act
  • Reviews registration practices of regulators for compliance with the Act
  • Makes recommendations and works directly with regulators to improve pathways to registration for immigrants trying to establish their careers in Manitoba
  • Acts as a resource for government departments and other stakeholders
  • Reports to the Minister of Labour and Immigration on the implementation and effectiveness of the Act

Registration practices are fully apparent, complete and clear for all to see

Objective
Independent, valid criteria are employed throughout the registration process

Impartial
Prejudice and bias are absent from the registration process

Fair
The registration process is transparent, objective and impartial, and successfully recognizes all competent applicants
