Budget 2008 is balanced, builds on our strong, stable economy and creates opportunities to move forward on Manitobans’ priorities:

• more support for health care and education;
  
  
• protection for our water and environment;
  
  
• increased funding to keep our communities safe;
  
  
• investment in Manitoba’s infrastructure; and
  
  
• tax relief for Manitoba families, graduating students, and businesses.

There are challenges ahead of us but Manitoba is well-positioned to meet those challenges. Manitoba’s past eight years of steady growth creates opportunities for our young people, our families and our businesses.

Mr. Speaker, Budget 2008 positions Manitoba to meet the challenges ahead and grow for the future.
