Flood Information

Flood Warnings, Watches, High Water Advisories and States of Local Emergency

Strong north winds are forecasted for today on Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba.

Flood warnings are in place for:

• Assiniboine River
• Souris River
• Lake St. Martin
• Lake Manitoba
• Dauphin Lake
• Qu'Appelle River

Flood watches are in place for:

• Lake Winnipeg

High water advisories are in place for:

• Red River
• Saskatchewan River
• Little Saskatchewan River
• Plum Creek

As of Thursday morning, 44 municipalities and communities have declared a state of local emergency including:

• the rural municipalities of Albert, Alonsa, Archie, Arthur, Birtle, Blanshard, Cartier, Coldwell, Cornwallis, Daly, Edward, Elton, Eriksdale, Glenwood, Grahamdale, Hamiota, Harrison, Headingly, Hillsburg, Lakeview, Lawrence, MacDonald, Miniota, North Cyprus, Ochre River, Pipestone, Shoal Lake, Sifton, Siglunes, Silver Creek, St. Francois-Xavier, St. Laurent, Strathclair, Victoria Beach, Wallace, Westbourne, Whitehead, Woodlands and Woodworth;
• the towns of Birtle, Oak Lake, Roblin, Souris and Virden;
• the City of Brandon.

A Provincial State of Emergency was issued on July 4th for the lower Assiniboine area in response to high water levels upstream of the Portage Diversion. This includes the City of Portage la Prairie, and RMs of Portage la Prairie, St Francois Xavier, Headingley, Grey, MacDonald and Cartier.

EVACUATIONS

• As of Thursday morning, approximately 625 people remain evacuated, including some related to spring flooding. Communities with evacuees include:
  • the rural municipalities of Ellice, Pipestone, Virden, Wallace and Whitehead;
  • the Canupawakpa Dakota First Nation, Crane River, the Ebb and Flow First Nation, the Lake Manitoba First Nation, the O-Chi-Chak-Ko Sipi First Nation, the Peguis First Nation, the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, the Waywayseecappo First Nation and the Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation.
