The Great Manitoba Food Fight ® (GMFF) features Manitoba food entrepreneurs who have developed but not fully commercialized an innovative new food product and are looking to compete for one of three product development and service awards. These awards can help them accelerate commercialization activities for their product and business.
Three Manitoba entrepreneurs won top honours and will be working towards further commercialization of their food products:
Gold - Clinton Cavers, Harborside Farms - Pastured Pork Prosciutto
Silver - Bessie Hatzitritonos, Bessie's Best - Tzatziki Sauce
Bronze - Glenda Hart, The Canadian Birch Company - Amber Birch Syrup
The winners of the Student Competition each won a professional chef knife set:
Justin Black and Maggi Delaurier - Pastured Pork Proscuitto
The Great Manitoba Food Fight Taster's Choice reception award winner:
Wesley Riedstra - Sweet Manitoba Cinnamon Bread
Food products will be judged by an expert panel. Finalists will compete for gold, silver and bronze product development and service award packages valued at approximately $10,000, $6,000 and $3,000.
This year’s competition has been expanded to a two-day event that will be held at the Assiniboine Community College Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA) campus in Brandon on April 17 and 18, 2013.
