The Salvation Army Project will implement a service coordination model focused on planning for permanent housing for long-term emergency interim shelter users at The Salvation Army’s Booth Centre.
Interim housing refers to emergency homeless shelters, safe haven programs, recovery residences or assessment centres designed for short-term stays. The focus of interim housing should be on ending homelessness.
Family Services and Housing, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and The Salvation Army will implement a housing first approach to the Province’s largest emergency interim housing provider.
This service delivery model is expected to better address existing needs within the Salvation Army while also putting a plan in place to locate permanent housing and supports in order to cultivate stable tenancies for participants.
