| Program Description |
5 month training program with 2 intakes of 8 participants per intake. There will be 4 weeks of recruitment and assessment and 4 weeks of supervised job search. The program includes classroom based instruction in lifeskills, basic math and English skills, employment preparation, I - Car Course Designation delivered by MPIC, practical work based training in auto body skills and work experience with an employer. A number of local employers have indicated a desire to be involved in the training by teaching and supervising.
The particapants will re-build 2 vehicles recyled from MPIC. Once repaired, they will be donated to the Big Heart Program, a non-profit organization and to a low income Aboriginal family selected by the Aboriginal Council of Winnipeg.
Participants will be provided with follow up support after the program & linkages to employment opportunities if needed.
The Aboriginal Youth Rebuild Program pay their participants $121.00 per week based on attendance. |
