Introduction to Volume 1

Volume 1 contains provincial standards for mandated child and family services agencies and licensed adoption agencies in Manitoba.

Volume Organization and Content

The provincial standards in this volume are divided into seven chapters as follows:

Legislation

The Director of Child and Family Services has a duty under subsection 4(1) of The Child and Family Services Act and subsection 5(1) of The Adoption Act to establish standards for the delivery of services in the province. Child and family services authorities have a duty under section 19 of The Child and Family Services Authorities Act to develop culturally appropriate standards that are consistent with provincial standards, objectives and priorities.

Policy

The provincial standards in this volume are based on departmental policy as well as legislation and regulations. For example, case management standards reflect a policy decision that all child and family services agencies must use the automated Intake Module.
