What is early childhood education?
- It is working with infants as young as three
months, toddlers, preschoolers, or school age children at a time
when the most learning is taking place in life.
- It is based on the developmental needs
of children to help them reach their full potential.
- It provides an active play-based learning
environment to promote children's healthy development.
- It is provided by trained Early Childhood
Educators in licensed child care centres, nursery schools
and family child care homes throughout Manitoba.
- It is a valuable partner and advisor
for all parents.
What is an Early Childhood Educator?
Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) are specially trained to understand
child development. They learn how to provide guidance to children
and how to create stimulating environments for children to explore
and interact.
ECEs can work with infants as young as 3 months old, toddlers,
preschoolers, or school age children up to 12 years. They can work
in group child care centres, nursery schools or family child care
homes. They are part of a team that partners with parents to help
children develop to their full potential.
