Bridgwater Forest is the newly named first neighbourhood of Waverley West, the city´s popular and newest neighbourhood in the southwest quarter of Winnipeg.
Manitoba´s growing economy means more demand for quality housing and Waverley West has proven to be a popular choice for Manitoba families. Construction has already begun and 16 show homes will be showcased in September 2008 at the annual Parade of Homes.
Manitoba Housing owns approximately 1300 acres of land in this community located west of Waverley Street and south of Bishop Grandin Boulevard. The neighbourhood is set in mature forests and features retention lakes and pathways. Sidewalks and a unique back lane area bring a traditional feeling to the community nestled in a natural setting.
One hundred and thirty four lots have already been sold and 214 new lots have been released. A total of 54 lots in the first neighbourhood have been designated for geothermal energy and the province is encouraging all homebuilders and buyers to consider the advantages of geothermal when they build in Bridgwater Forest.

Bridgwater Forest is named for Arthur Bridgwater who was police chief of the then Fort Garry Police from 1945 to 1974. The name also recognizes the former police shooting range called Bridgwater Park and reflects the naturally forested setting.
Waverley West is an important part of the province´s housing strategy. It will provide valuable resources from land development proceeds and support inner city revitalization through investments in housing for low-to moderate-income households.
