Developmental Centre
Located in Portage la Prairie, the Manitoba Developmental Centre is an accredited
residential care facility for adults with a
mental disability.
The
Centre
provides care, supervision and developmental programs for over
400 residents. The Centre is committed to the principles of resident-centered
service and continuous quality improvement and strives to enhance
the quality of life for the Manitobans who reside there.
Residential units are organized into four areas of specialization which reflect
the unique needs of the residents. These include:
- the Extended Care Program, which provides
care and services for residents whose mental disability or complex
medical conditions require intensive, long-term care;
- the Geriatric Program, which provides
care and services for residents who experience age-related changes
that affect daily living;
- the Habilitation Program, which provides
care and services for residents whose behaviours present a risk
to
themselves, to
others or to their environment; and
- the Specialty Care Program, which provides
services and supports to assist residents to increase their
independence and participate
more fully in community life.
