Supporting Innovation
Helping people with autism is a fairly new area of service, requiring new approaches and creativity to find what works. Many places across North America and around the world are testing new strategies to better support children with autism. These strategies could help children with autism develop the skills they need to live more independently. Manitoba is committed to learning from new and evolving evidence-based approaches to supporting children, youth and adults with autism and incorporating proven best practices into existing services as well exploring new services in response to needs that remain unmet.
Moving Forward in Manitoba
- community partnerships to create, deliver and evaluate new pilot projects to help children and youth with ASD overcome the basic challenges of autism - communication, socialization and behaviour
- programs for children, youth and adults available in all regions of Manitoba

- a flexible funding source to support a wide range of innovative community initiatives and programs consistent with the themes and ideas presented in this five-year plan for helping Manitobans with autism
- innovative programs that are offered for all ages and are available throughout Manitoba based on evolving best practices and sound research evidence
