Section 133.2 - Vocational Training - Placement
Purpose
The primary purpose of Placement Activity is for job search however,
depending on individualized needs of participants this service may
include a wide range of activities such as:
- arrange and conduct an intake interview with the participant
to develop an understanding of his/her vocational strengths, capacities
and support needs, to clarify the participant's objective and
agree on an action plan;
- gather relevant data on the participant from formal educational,
psychological and medical records, tests, assessments, evaluations
and or other reports;
- coordinate team meetings with the Vocational
Counsellor and other resource people such as a Mental Health Worker;
- match the participant's skills, training and interests with
work placement opportunities;
- assist the participant to develop job search skills and to
actively conduct a job search with potential employers;
- arrange job site information sessions;
- establish relationships with employers and potential employees;
- negotiate placement arrangements with the employer and the
participant;
- negotiate special accommodations either job specific or within
the work-site which may be required to enable participants to
effectively function in the work assessment, work training or
employment site; and
- explain program supports to employers. For example, training-on-the-job,
job coach and follow-up.
Process
Placement services may occur at any time within the authorized
enrolment dates and are in relation to activities to secure employment
sites outside the Evaluation and Work Training Centre itself.
Maximum Duration of Placement Services
When placement days are requested for job search activity, the
maximum number of days shall be limited to 40 within a 60 training
day (3 month) time period. Extensions shall be limited to 20 days
during a subsequent 3 month period.
Standards
The following standards apply to the utilization of placement services
by Evaluation and Work Training Centres:
- Requests for Placement Services negotiated with Evaluation
and Work Training Centres must be authorized prior to the commencement
date.
- The Evaluation and Work Training Centre must be able to provide
documentation of the activities carried out on behalf of the participant
for each day in which the centre is charging the daily fee for
placement services.
