Section 133.8 - Job Coach
Purpose
Job coaches assist individuals with skill development, including
task learning and short-term one-on-one counseling to resolve problems
and issues within the job setting. Funding for job coaching services
is not available to address or solve persistent behavioural problems
or issues.
Job coaching services under this provision should focus on skill
development and direct employment related issues.
Process
The services of a job coach may be used as a means for providing
employment-related supports:
- if rural regions do not have the availability of an Evaluation
and Work Training Centre within their region;
- if an individual who requires support because they are at risk
of job loss due to disability-related factors; and
- in exceptional circumstances to aid individuals, where an Evaluation
and Work Training Centre is unable to provide the required level
of support to assist the individual. Exceptional circumstances
may include complex disability issues that are required to be
addressed in a work setting.
The range of pay for a Job Coach may vary, depending on the skill
set of the individual. Pay rates cannot exceed rates paid for Tutors.
Refer to Section 166.8.
Standards
The following standards apply for job coaches:
- Job Coaching Services will be approved when:
- the support service is not available due to lack of resources
in a rural region; or
- the participant's needs cannot be met due to exceptional
job skill development requirements.
