This section provides a brief description of other employment-focused programs and services included in the Labour Market Agreement for Persons with Disabilities (LMAPD).
Family Services and Consumer Affairs offers Day Services in addition to the range of services funded and/or co-ordinated by the provincial marketAbilities Program. Funding is provided to not-for-profit incorporated organizations that provide a range of Day Services for persons with a mental disability, including supported employment and follow-up services, services with a vocational focus, and personal development services. These services are designed to support the participant in the acquisition of new skills, maintenance of existing skills and enhancement of opportunities for vocational and community participation including, but not restricted to, self-care, work, social and leisure skills.
Day Services are not part of the marketAbilities Program in terms of funding, although some aspects may be eligible for cost sharing under the LMAPD, such as those services that provide school-to-work transition and supported employment.
A Day Services program participant may be referred to the marketAbilities Program for vocational training, education or employment.
