Active livingMost of us already know the importance of active living. Physical activity increases energy levels, helps us handle stress better and strengthens the heart and lungs - all important aspects of healthy living. The result is a better quality of life for people of all ages. Yet less than half of Manitobans engage in enough physical activity to improve their health.

This program supports community organizations in offering organized recreation programming to financially disadvantaged children and youth to help them get active. Trails can be accessed year-round through activities such as walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, canoeing, kayaking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Trails Manitoba and the Trans Canada Trail

Trails Manitoba is the official body responsible for the Trans Canada Trail (TCT) in Manitoba.  In Manitoba the TCT is over 1,500 km long, winding through boreal shield, river-bottom forest, tall grass prairie, the Pembina Hills, western uplands, and more.
