Aboriginal Health Branch
Our Mission:

To work in partnership with multi-sector stakeholders to improve the health of Aboriginal peoples in Manitoba.

Our Goal:

To ensure health policies, strategies and services meet the needs of the Aboriginal people and their communities in Manitoba.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Aboriginal Health Branch:

  • Recognizes and respects the diverse Aboriginal cultures, languages, traditions, and mandates/jurisdictions of all Aboriginal groups in Manitoba;

  • Provides an insight on Aboriginal culture and awareness of Aboriginal wellness practices;

  • Works in partnership and acts as a liaison with other jurisdictions, political territorial organizations, tribal councils, Federal/Provincial government departments, regional health authorities and community organizations;

  • Analyzes evidence based research and best practices from Canada and worldwide;

  • Consults with various groups and assists in the development of Aboriginal strategies, policies, and health education training programs.
