Replacing the Aboriginal Medical Student Financial Assistance Program (AMSFAP)

To address rising costs associated with post-secondary education in Manitoba, there have been changes made to the Manitoba Bursary. The new Manitoba Bursary was designed to mirror the Canada Student Grant, which together provided low-income, full-time students with up to $5,000 in non-repayable student financial support. As part of the changes to the Manitoba Bursary, Manitoba has phased out the Aboriginal Medical Student Financial Assistance Program (AMSFAP).

Beginning August 1, 2018, students pursuing their medical studies may be eligible for the newly enhanced Manitoba Bursary, if they apply for financial assistance through Manitoba Student Aid. For more information, please refer to Manitoba Student Aid’s website at: www.manitobastudentaid.ca
