MCCPP Continuing Education

*NEW – Effective January 1, 2017 – EMS call volume will no longer be an option for obtaining mandatory requirements.

Personnel licences are issued for a three year period.  During this three year period EMS personnel are required to complete the requirements of Manitoba Continuing Competency Program for Paramedics (MCCPP). MCCPP Annual Status report forms are required to be submitted annually.

Process for Reporting

An MCCPP Annual Status form, listing the completed con- ed with proof of successful completion, must be submitted to the Emergency Medical Services Branch sixty (60) days before the month listed on the licence. 

Year 1 Download and submit MCCPP Annual Status form, with proof of successful con-ed completion, 60 days before the month listed on the licence.

Year 2 Download and submit MCCPP Annual Status form, with proof of successful con-ed completion, 60 days before the month listed on the licence.

Year 3  Download and submit MCCPP Annual Status form and Licence Renewal application, with proof of successful con-ed completion,  (60) days before the expiry date on the licence.

Request for Leave of Absence (LOA)

Temporary LOA’s from MCCPP are considered on an individual basis:

  • LOA’s will only be considered in extenuating circumstances that affect personnel’s ability to access the program requirements.
  • LOA’s will not exceed one year
  • Personnel are required to submit, in writing, a LOA request to the MCCPP Program Coordinator within 30 days of its commencement.
Program Components and Requirements

EMS Personnel Licence holders are required to complete mandatory and optional continuing education (con-ed) program components yearly.

Mandatory

A yearly minimum of 4 (four) mandatory con-ed modules or equivalent are required for all licence holders. Duplicate modules are not accepted during the three year period of the licence.

Example: Module 2, Section 1Completion of mandatory con-ed modules available on-line through the Paramedic Association of Manitoba (PAM) or a Manitoba EMS employer.

Each mandatory con-ed module has specific identifying numbers.

Complete the module and enter the identifying number into the MCCPP Annual status form.

Example:  Module 2, Section 1 – Airway Management – enter 2.1

Ensure you submit proof of successful completion with your annual status form.

Optional/Ongoing credits

An annual minimum of optional/ongoing con-ed module credit or equivalent are required for all licence holders.

  • EMR – 40 credits
  • PCP – 60 credits
  • ACP – 75 credits

There are two ways to obtain optional/ongoing education credits:

1. Completion of optional modulesExample: Module 4, Section 2

Modules are available on-line through the Paramedic Association of Manitoba (PAM) or a Manitoba EMS employer. Duplicate modules are not accepted during the three year period of a licence.

Each con-ed module has specific identifying numbers and a pre-assigned credit value. Complete the module and enter the specific identifying number into the MCCPP Annual status form.

Example:  Module 4, Section 2 Soft Tissue Injuries – enter 4-2

Enter number of credits next to module.

AND/OR

2. Pre-approved ongoing educational programs.

Example: HazMat Awareness course – 150101-30
Enter number of credits next to identifying number.
