Manitoba Licensing Requirements for Individuals

EMS-Licensed Within Another Jurisdiction of Canada
1. Download the appropriate level of Personnel License Application from the Licensing Forms page.
- Emergency Medical Responder = Technician level of licensure
- Primary Care Paramedic = Technician-Paramedic level of licensure
- Advanced Care Paramedic = Technician-Advanced Paramedic level of licensure
2. All documentation listed on page 2 of the form must be submitted with the application (please
ensure that you follow the directions found on the last page of the application:
- incomplete applications may be returned
- all costs associated with the application process will be the sole responsibility of the
applicant:
- a fee is assessed for the criminal record check (allow at least 10 days for processing)
- a fee is assessed for the child abuse registry check (allow 6-8 weeks for processing)
- receipts proving that you have applied for the criminal record check and/or child abuse
registry check will be accepted in order to complete the exam process and acquire a
qualification of licensure. The original documents will be required prior to issuance of a
license.
3. Attach to the application a copy of your current EMS license.
4. Mail or drop off in person the information to the Emergency Medical Services Branch. Faxes are
not accepted.
5. Provide the License Registration Verification form to your current licensing agency.
- your licensing agency must fill out the bottom portion of the form and mail it directly to the
Emergency Medical Services Branch in Manitoba as per the directions on the form.
Upon receipt of the above information, your file will be reviewed and you will be notified of the next steps:
- individuals that are approved for reciprocity of licensure will be required to complete a 40 question multiple choice written exam based on Manitoba-specific Treatment Guidelines and Protocols for their specific level of licensure - successful applicants will receive a qualification for licensure with the same expiry of their current license, to a maximum of 3 years.
- individuals not approved may be required to complete the full Manitoba licensing exam
process – successful applicants will receive a 3 year letter of qualification.
Please note that written exam dates are available at least twice per month.
