
Health System Innovation (HSI) was established to promote and support health system improvement and innovation in Manitoba.
To make health system improvements in efficiency, access, quality and cost throughout Manitoba, system-wide effort in innovation and quality improvement is required. HSI works with many different partners to accelerate innovation and quality improvement. Since many organizations and providers make up the health system, innovation happens through a variety of approaches that we can learn from. It is very important to hear from patients, who are the customers of the health system. There are also many examples of innovation happening outside the health system. For instance, we can learn about new research on efficiency from industry and business.
Innovation means new or better ways of doing valued things. Innovation includes:
Quality improvement means the combined and ongoing efforts of everyone — government, healthcare professionals, patients and their families, researchers, planners and educators — to make changes for better health for Manitobans, better care from the health system, and better opportunities for health care professionals.
