Mental Health and Addictions Strategy

Description of Services Required - Focus of Work

The Consultant shall develop a focused provincial Mental Health and Addiction (MHA) strategic plan that will look at ways to improve access to and coordination of mental health and addiction services in the province. The strategic plan shall be inclusive of the lifespan.

The Strategic Plan will inform both mental health and addictions systems in the areas of service access and coordination;

  1. service delivery (including health promotion/prevention, harm reduction, intervention for mild, moderate acute and enduring presentations, specialized treatment, post treatment, rehabilitation, recovery, etc.);
  2. inter-sectoral partnerships and relations for the coordination of services;
  3. service delivery needs at a universal level and for at-risk populations including children in care, Indigenous peoples, refugees and other newcomers and persons at risk of or experiencing homelessness;
  4. human resource requirements to meet future state; and
  5. knowledge exchange requirements across the provincial health and related systems.
