Communicable Disease Control (CDC) Branch

The CDC's responsibility is the prevention and control of communicable diseases in Manitoba.

This responsibility is carried out in collaboration with others involved with the identification and management of communicable diseases.

Mission:

To promote and support the prevention and control of communicable diseases in Manitoba.

Objectives:

  • To develop public health policies related to the prevention and control of communicable diseases.

  • To develop and maintain communicable disease surveillance systems to monitor communicable disease occurrence.

  • To provide data to support communicable disease control activities.

  • To manage the storage and distribution of biologics, vaccines and medications used in prevention and control of communicable disease.

  • To communicate quickly and effectively with the public as well as local, provincial, national and international health jurisdictions concerning communicable disease prevention and control matters.

  • To provide ongoing support to local health regions to assist in the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
