Prevention

Healthy Child Manitoba believes that girls and women need information and support about alcohol use and how it affects their bodies and their lives. This is especially important when pregnant or planning to become pregnant. We know that:

  • Most women in Manitoba drink alcohol
  • Many women have unexpected pregnancies
  • No alcohol is best when pregnant, because alcohol can harm the fetus
  • Everyone needs this information, and some women will need extra support to ensure a healthy pregnancy

Healthy Child Manitoba offers programs and resources to help women have the healthiest possible outcomes for themselves and their families.

If you have questions about your alcohol or drug use during pregnancy, please contact your doctor, midwife or public health nurse, or phone Motherisk, a confidential phone line at 1-877-327-4636.
