Get out and bike. Wear a helmet every time.

Manitoba is pleased to have coordinated the distribution of more than 44,000 children’s bike helmets through this provincial initiative aimed at encouraging young Manitobans to ride safer. In addition to the helmets available for purchase at the low rate of $10 to $13 the Government of Manitoba has also made 1,500 helmets available to families who could not afford them.

Working with KidSport and Manitoba schools, helmets are distributed throughout the province. Information on how to purchase helmets through the Low-cost Bike Helmet Initiative is sent to all Manitoba schools and early learning child care centres each year.

The Government of Manitoba also continues to support bicycle safety initiatives like the CAN-BIKE Cycling Skills program. Through the efforts of instructors trained by Manitoba Public Insurance, the Manitoba Cycling Association and the Sport Medicine Council, Manitobans of all ages can receive bike skills and safety training.
