The Falls Prevention Coordination Project is a funded project through the “First Ministers Ten Year Plan to Strengthen Health Care” initiative to address the wait list and service access issues and the Falls Prevention Wait Times Reduction Strategy.
In January, 2007, Manitoba Health & Healthy Living initiated work to develop a Falls Prevention Network of multidisciplinary stakeholders across the province and develop an inventory of current falls prevention resources/programs available in Manitoba.
The Inventory of Falls Prevention Resources and Programs addresses one of the main objectives of the project and looks at falls prevention across the lifespan. Information for the inventory was received from participants of the Falls Prevention Network; from information from the regional health authorities as part of their Injury Prevention Deliverables (including validation); and from the web, personal contacts and other sources.
The Inventory of Falls Prevention Resources and Programs is an attempt to provide a comprehensive listing of resources and programs information on falls prevention that will be of use to individuals, friends/family, professionals and volunteers providing and accessing falls prevention material. The Inventory of Falls Prevention Resources and Programs will be updated approximately semi-annually.
