    This report outlines the injury trends in Manitoba over a ten-year period from 1992-2001 and includes data on both unintentional and intentional injury.

    The Economic Burden of Unintentional Injury in Manitoba study was conducted in 2003. It describes the enormous costs of unintentional injury, both human and monetary, to the citizens of Manitoba. It has been estimated that unintentional injuries alone cost Manitoba $819 million annually. The report states that in Manitoba 18 people/hour are injured due to unintentional injury daily (over 400/day), roughly 1 person dies daily from these injuries, and over 3500 are disabled annually.

    The Injury Prevention: A Review of Best Practices series outlines a number of best practices recommendations in the areas of drowning, falls and fall-related injuries, motor vehicle occupant injuries, and suffocation and choking injuries. The series is designed to be a resource for communities and organizations working in these particular areas of injury prevention.

    This report, prepared for the Division of Aging and Seniors, Public Health Agency of Canada,  is an analysis of the 2008/2009 Canadian hospitalization data for fall-related injuries among persons aged 65 years and older .  The analysis is followed by the results of a scan of fall prevention programs currently operating across Canada.
