Recreation Trails

Recreational trails in Manitoba provide a wide variety of great places to actively explore our province’s beauty.  Trails can be explored in any season through activities such as walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Get “in motion” with family and friends in Manitoba’s great outdoors and discover the wonders of a tall grass prairie, river bottom forests, aspen-oak parkland, boreal forested Canadian shield and much more.

Manitoba’s parks and trails offer endless opportunities to be active all year long.

  • Go for a walk or hike
  • Ride your bikes
  • Go horseback riding
  • Camp
  • Snowshoe
  • Skate
  • Paddle a canoe
  • Row a boat
  • Cook a meal outdoors
  • Explore nature
  • Just PLAY!

Regular daily activity creates a healthier, happier you – and you’ll build positive, lasting memories, too.  Be sure to wear a helmet when bicycling in parks and on trails!

The Manitoba Millennium Trail Development Project

In 2000, the Province of Manitoba launched the Manitoba Millennium Trail Development Project.  The project provides funding for the development and construction of the Trans Canada Trail and other independent local and regional trails.  Recently, the Province of Manitoba provided additional resources for trail building and maintenance through the Trans Canada Trail (Manitoba) Project, and the Border to Beaches Project.

To find out how your community can access grant funds for trail development and maintenance and for more information on recreational trails in Manitoba, contact the Manitoba Recreational Trails Association (MRTA):
