The Jobs | Eligibility | How to Apply
The Youth Transition Program is coordinated in partnership between the MB4Youth Division and Manitoba Student Aid. The program provides recent grade 12 graduates a meaningful work experience with the provincial government and approved private sector employers. The purpose of the program is to assist and encourage students who lack the funds to further their education and to enroll in post-secondary education. Successful applicants are given up to three interviews (based on number of employer and student applications). Once students have completed their 10 to 14 month work term and have successfully enrolled in a designated post-secondary program they will receive a $3,000 bursary in addition to their salaries.
Eligible candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 21, legally entitled to work in Canada and graduating from grade 12 in June 2012. Students must be committed to pursuing post-secondary education but unable to enroll in a post-secondary program without the financial assistance of the Youth Transition program. Parents' disposable income will be one of the factors used to determine student eligibility and priority for job referrals.Student candidates must be recruited through their high school counselors, teachers or principals.
Students must complete a questionnaire that is submitted by their high school counselor, teacher or principal to MB4Youth along with a copy of their resume. Students must also complete the STEP Services registration form at: www.studentjobs.gov.mb.ca. Interviews will begin mid-May.
Counselors are to forward resumes and questionnaires by April 20, 2012 to:
